|Call of Cthulhu LCG | Published 01 March 2013|
“They walk unseen and foul in lonely places where the Words have been spoken and the Rites howled through at their Seasons. The wind gibbers with Their voices, and the earth mutters with Their consciousness.”
–from the Necronomicon
The 2013 Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game Regional Championship Tournament Season is nearly here, and once again the Ancient Ones threaten to break through the barriers between realms and threaten all of humanity. Who are these Old Ones? Where will they appear? How can they be defeated?
Call of Cthulhu players can find answers to some of their most pressing questions in the new FAQ (pdf, 12.0 MB) and tournament rules document (pdf, 3.0 MB). Both documents are also available on the game’s support page.
The design team has updated these living documents to ensure that players can enjoy the best possible play experience throughout the Regional Championship season, and developers Brad Andres and Damon Stone offer an overview of the changes they have made.
Brad Andres and Damon Stone on the Updated FAQ and Tournament Rules
Hello, Call of Cthulhu players!
In this new FAQ update, you’ll find answers to a number of new rules questions as well as minor changes to the errata. Only one major change has taken place, the banning of the card, Glimpse of the Void (Spawn of Madness, 14). This card has been on our radar for a while and creates strategies that are not in the best interest of the game. Meanwhile, we have introduced minor errata to two cards: Khopesh of the Abyss (The Shifting Sands, 16) and The Necronomicon (Touched by the Abyss, 112). These are small adjustments that bring the cards in line with their desired function, and we conclude our review of the game’s mechanics with small adjustments to the rules structure.
The biggest change to the document is a massive overhaul in its organization. Everything has been examined and reordered for clarity and content, making this document much easier to navigate. This change should make it easier for players to find the information they need faster and get back to their struggles in the face of madness!
