“You have done well to come,” said Elrond. “You will hear today all that you need to understand the purpose of the Enemy. There is naught that you can do, other than to resist, with hope or without it. But you do not stand alone. You will learn that your trouble is but part of the trouble of all the western world.”
–“The Council of Elrond,” The Fellowship of the Ring
Gather your fellowship – your adventure begins today. The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is now on sale at your local retailer and on our webstore! This latest addition to our line of Living Card Games is a game of heroes, perilous journeys, and adventure set in the lands of the epic fantasy masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings.
The Adventure Begins
The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is a fully cooperative card game that puts 1-2 players (or up to four with two Core Sets!) in control of the most powerful characters and artifacts of Middle-earth. Players will select heroes, gather allies, acquire artifacts, and coordinate their efforts to face Middle-earth’s most dangerous fiends. By cooperating to overcome the obstacles drawn from the encounter deck, you will complete the quest before you and claim victory!

In The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game, players take on the roles of heroes attempting to complete dangerous quests. But instead of directly retelling the classic stories that have previously been narrated, this game provides players with a variety of elements —characters, settings, enemies, events, items, artifacts, scenarios — that allow them to embark upon new adventures and share new experiences with these beloved characters during this ominous period of Middle-earth history.
Tell an Ongoing Story
And as a Living Card Game, The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game is a constantly expanding experience. Coming soon with the first Adventure Pack in the Shadows of Mirkwood cycle, The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game delivers an ongoing narrative in which you are the hero. Check out our LCG website to get all the details of this exciting concept in gaming.

My precious...
What we found out quickly last night, was you have to learn how to manage your force pretty quickly - Quest, Defend OR attack. Also, get an ally out quickly. Overall very fun. I am excited to how quickly new fan based scenarios will be created.

I'll be getting this soon. I can't see it being as satisfying to play as Middle Eath CCG, but it looks far less painful to learn how to play & should provide a fun much quicker, if less complex, game experience. I'm interested to see what expansions add to this game.
My store is not getting it till next week at the earliest.
Mine is hitting today as well - so excited!
If you are looking for me, i`ll be inside my playing room in the dark playing cards and growing a schizoid personality disorder.
Did anyone else receive miss printed tokens? Will FFG replace the one I have?
I think $40 is a little step for a game that is only cards, but I really like the game. I guess it is somewhat consistent with deck building games like Dominion and Thunderstone or CCG's. I guess I was a little surprised to see what you actually got for $40 when I put all of the cards in one hand.
Anyways - we played first 2 scenarios and loved the game. We blew through the first one (3 players) and then beat the second, but 3 of the 4 we very close to 45 threat.
The spirit ally that puts one token on all locations in the staging area when she quests seemed to be a game winner in both games. The first game, I had 2 of her out.
That's the game was waiting for for a long time. And even now I have to wait becouse my FLGS does not have it yet in English version. Eh, all the waiting.
Thanks FFG for making this amaizing game!
Just orderd my copy!
The day we've been waiting for for eight months is finally here! Hooray! And it's on my birthday!
"Are the cards packaged in 3x sets, or is it 1x of each?"
Neither actually, most cards are 2x but there are a few in each sphere at 1x and 3x
It's a mix mostly sets of three but there are several cards that are only paired or singletons. Oddly enough there are four copies of Gandalf so he can be included with all 4 of the starter decks.
Fun game and I can see a lot of potential for interesting additions in the future. We took one core set and played 2 four player games with each person taking a deck and using dice to track threat on the extra 2 players.
