Hi, my first post so I'll start with some questions.
Now that series 2 is here, is there any news on what aircraft will be in Series 3? Not that I'm impatient or anything.
I'm guessing that Series 3 is planned already, but there are a few planes that I would really like to see. Nieuport 17, favoured by many of the aces
SE5a, stablemate of the Camel and a near match for the DVII
Bristol Fighter, best(?) 2 seater in the war
Pfalz DIII, tough and under-rated fighter
Just my thoughts on this, bring them out and I'd buy several of each.

Those sound great, how about these ones from the early war period.
Fokker Eindekker
Albatross D2
DH 2
FE 2b
BE 2
Nieu 11
Needless to say we would need a new set of damage cards as some of these had 1 gun on top of the wing, which is even worse than the single on the engine. And the early war battles are very difficult.

i would love to see those early planes,
but the ones I am betting on are the nieuport 17 (the nieuport 16 with rockets is being considered with an balloon) the Albatross DIII (also in burning drachens) and maybe the SE 5a (cards in the next booster pack) and Ufag (in watch your back but not set 2)
I forget off hand which other hun machine is with the SE 5a
anyway thats my speculations mixed with what i am hopeing for...

The early planes would be nice, but I would like them to finish off the later period first.
I will get series 3 too, the Nieuport and Albatros DIII are must haves for me.

Early war birds would be nice. Sure they are not as flashy as some of the more beefed up planes and may not be as competitive, but players them in an early setting would be hell of a lot fun.
Recon planes would be neat, like the slow all metal german recon plane (what was the name?)
sea bird would be awesome.
and some what-if birds would be nice. Both made and never saw combat like the sop. salemander, several dozen were built and sent to france but the war ended in a month. and planes that were still on the drawing board.

I believe the aircraft in question was the Junkers, with the corrigated metal finish. It was very tough and took huge amounts of damage to bring down. If I remember correctly it was used for ground attack roles.

I also want a little baron Fokker Dr. I
I know it would a be a reprint, something most would not want to see, but made some time in the future?

I've been looking at some of the 1/144 scale WWI models that somebody in another thread posted up a lot of links to various dealers.
I have 11 different manuever decks from the boxed sets, minis and the recon booster pack, and it wouldn't appear too difficult to match up any planes not already included in the game to a maneuver deck. That plus I believe the Top Fighters booster has two more manuever decks, L & M if I'm not mistaken. So there would seem to be a lot of latitude for that kind of thing for those who don't mind tracking down and building their own minis.
Rodger_Wilco has me on that course for DoW once more (different) maneuver decks are released for that game.

well i had an chance to see some of the red eagle 1/144 aeroplanes and they are rather larger than the WoW models. maybe 10% or so...
after seeing that i have decided to stick with the WoW releases no matter how impatant i may get.
(i am an freak for scaleing and seeing camels in two diffrent sizes on the same table would bother me...)
maybe the reversico planes are smaller?...

When I measured up the Dr1 and Albatross I thought the Red Eagle and WoW matched up well in terms of wing span.
With regards to future plans I wish one of each model could be supplied in plain standard finish and there was a tie-up with a decal maker such as Dom's Decals in the UK or I-94 in the US to provide a range of options for each model. As it is I've commissioned two sheets from Dom to help in this process – these have now reached enough 'pledges to buy' that they are making it into production. If you're interested in customising your models check out:
https://sslrelay.com/www.domsdecals.com/sess/utn1547f1e61dcbda5/shopdata/index.shopscript
Click on the request box top right and scroll down to 1/144 WW1 for a list.
For series 4 I would like to see:
SE5a
Bristol Fighter
Pflaz D111
Siemens Schuckert
Future list is long but the Sopwith Pup, Triplane and One-and-a-half-Strutter are favourites of mine. Early war stuff is off less interest to me than later war.

As far as other company's minis go there is a Japanese company but they look ugy and cheap.
there is also the 1/144 models, but I have my hands tied up with a couple dozen other projects.
So I'm really pulling for them to release a little baron plane.
Plus there minis are by far the best out there, not only WWI but just gaming miniatures in general not much that can compare to them.

not sure what i seen then but they seemed quite large compaired to the WoW minis i have.
maybe i just did not look close enough.
anyway if the red eagles really match up well i might then go ahead and get an couple to fill out my need for nueiports. and DIIIs i am currently sculpting some balloons and want (lots) to do the drachens scenarios for photos...
and of course i am not scared of building and painting little bitty things...

Beware of the Skytrex Albatros - its a curious cross between the DVa and the DIII. I'd use the F Toys version instead.

As always, I'm going to put my vote in for the Seimens-Schuckert D.III or D.IV
Not terribly common, but a handsome aircraft (second after the Albatross )

For early war birds what about a Halberstadt D.II
Sure there as been things said about it... bad things. Weak engine, only 1 machine gun.
But would be fun for early dog fights.

you could always just repaint existing WoW minis to gain the required specific plane, That is if they already make the model

For me the wait for a Bristol Fighter is almost too much to cope with. Just a card would help [and I could buy a kit]. Maybe I can march up and down chanting "Bring on the Brisfits"!!!

I concur wholeheartedly. Nothing cooler in my mind than a Brisfit!

"On the morning of the 27 October 1918, this officer observed an enemy two-seater over the Foret de Mormal. He attacked this machine and after a short burst it broke up in the air. At the same time a Fokker biplane attacked him, and he was wounded in the right thigh, but managed, despite this, to shoot down the enemy aeroplane in flames. He then found himself in the middle of a large formation of Fokkers who attacked him from all directions, and was again severely wounded in the left thigh, but succeeded in driving down two of the enemy in a spin. He lost consciousness after that, and his machine fell out of control. On recovery, he found himself being again attacked heavily by a large formation, and singling out one machine he deliberately charged and drove it down in flames. During this fight his left elbow was shattered and he again fainted, and on regaining consciousness he found himself still being attacked, but notwithstanding that he was now severely wounded in both legs and his left arm shattered, he dived on the nearest machine and shot it down in flames. Being greatly exhausted, he dived out of the fight to regain our lines, but was met by another formation, which attacked and endeavored to cut him off, but after a hard fight he succeeded in breaking up this formation and reached our lines, where he crashed on landing. This combat, in which Major Barker destroyed four enemy machines (three of them in flames), brought his total successes to fifty enemy machines destroyed, and is a notable example of the exceptional bravery and disregard of danger which this very gallant officer has always displayed throughout his distinguished career." VC citation, London Gazette, 30 November 1918. |

"Bring on the Brisfits!"
"Bring on the Brisfits!"
"Bring on the Brisfits!"
(I had to quit marching though, my wife came in and asked me what in the world I was doing! )

I've been caught smuggling "unathorized purchases" into my home, so sometimes I get frisked and packages searched trying to get in!
hgraves wrote:nice... My lady does not ask what I am doing she just sighs and says "at least you are not comeing home drunk every night..."
LOL!!! I've heard that a time or two myself!
hgraves wrote:also she say's "When are you gonna get rid of (whatever game) that you have not played in 2 years?"

I've heard that one too! Only I'm the one who gets rid of any game that I don't play any longer! I usually go down to my FLGS and trade it in, to keep it in circulation. If I'm not playing it, I'd rather see someone else get some game time with it!
A buddy of mine has a huge collection of wargames, and from time to time I've added some of my old titles to it. He has an enormous walk in closet that looks like a Wargame Hisorical Museum! He always tells me that if I ever change my mind and want any of them back, to just say the word! He's like a Wargame Historian.
Anyway, I never could, and never will toss a wargame, and FLGS are great for keeping games going.
