More awesome art? Fantastic. And while I generally agree with the sentiments over samurai-type stuff outside of their own setting this is the vast and varied Imperium of Mankind. If we can have Space Vikings, Space Mongols, Space ancient Greeks, Space Arabians/Russians/Germans/etc and so on then Space Samurai shouldn't be ruled out. The drawing itself doesn't look out of place, either, especially next to hulking feral guardsmen clad in furs and carrying spears.

Indeed, perhaps, i remember in old BI Dark Heresy page, there was in the list of planets in Calixis sector one with only few iles on a vast sea, which was known for its samurai swords and banded leather armor, feudal world quite resembling medieval Japan. I think it was Fervidus or something...

Here's (most of) my group, images made with hero machine and thereafter proportionally resized and more or less hacked:

From left to right:
Röd (Swedish for 'Red') - 6th rank Guardsman from death world Woe. Hunter and survivor.
Syren - 6th rank Arbitrator, void born. Skilled investigator and shotgun wielder. Won't go anywhere without her notepad.
Bones - 4th rank Adept, void born. Shadow-dwelling gunslinger.
Silas - 5th rank Psyker, void born. Paranoid but very powerful telepath.
Tlainen - 6th (?) rank Tech priest. A sociopath who's degree of madness recently increased significantly due to death and cybernetic ressurection.

Heh, discreetness has indeed proven hard for us at times. Usually we come up with a half-decent cover which will sooner or later fail, at which point we draw our weapons and kill all the villains that we have identified during the undercover investigation. When it is crucial not to get identified as agents of the imperium we often find ourselves forced to split up as we are a rather unlikely group of individuals...

In our current assignement we have come to the conclusion that we don't blend in well with nobility...

Meh, finally I managed to draw some artwork for my assassin...

First one is concept art, so the quality isn't that good. I'm not entirely satisfied with the second one either, but I guess both pictures are good enough to show around. I just need to practice more often - haven't been drawing for ages. I do like my autogun design a lot, though!

Here ye go:

By the way, that Guard-style flak jacket worn above the bodyglove was "borrowed" from an Arbites precinct armory as we geared up to investigate some xenos-activity. Just in case anybody wonders.

I like the first one better. Also just wondering is that a silienced, laser sighted autogun? Also is this the ex-ganger Assassin?

In what vessels did they pour forth their polluted essences, in what form did they hope to subjugate the universe, with whose hands do they, even now, reach across the frontiers of space in vain aspirations of conquest? It is both obviously and painfully clear that it is WE who they venerate; they wish nothing more than to be like us, to be like Him whose children they envy…

Here's my Assassin, who recently joined the IG and became a Sniper to avoid any problems with the local Arbites when the Assassin's guild he was a member of was taken out in a Raid. Constantine "Stern" Flautisino.

Yes to both questions!

I've grown so fond of that gun, I think I really need an individual name for that rifle's series now. "Customized autogun" just won't do it anymore!

@Delthos: Awesome paintjob. I admire your ability of merging different layers of paint - something I still need to learn when it comes to my own miniatures (I can do the tiniest details, but I always had trouble with things such as highlights, watering down, drybrushing etc).

I've been looking for a good Adepta Sororitas picture for the character I want to play. As soon as I saw Acolyte AES's amazing pic I knew that was the one I was looking for.
So here is my recoloring of her as Sister Zethina of the Order of the Bloody Rose.
I'm kinda rusty on photoshop so I'm not 100% happy with some of it but it's close to what I see in my head.

Thank you Acolyte AES for such wonderful work!

My work in progress Fenksworld (yeah, Hive Volg) ex-guardsman, freshly returned from crusade (made in paint from IG pictures found at one 5th Ed. rulebook preview)

no name yet, character (sociophatic, dangerously cunning, devout (in some strange way...), prepared (and able) for every atrocity possible) still under development

Like the "Justicar"?

Everyone great artwork, makes me feel real bad I don't have the skill or feel for drawing. I can paint models, I can paint a picture if the lines were laid out for me, but I can't draw. And the only reason this sucks is because I have a very vivid and unending imagination and no means to convey anything I come up with. I have a character that is the same campaign as Lynata's and I can't find a picture that really represents her. The closes I've come up with is the concept art for the character from WET, maybe with some photoshop I can make it a bit more 40kish but I kinda like it the way it is. She does match my concept well (Former Guard, going the assault route) without all the carapace armor which is what I wanted at first then found this picture. Me and Lynata decided to be have our characters act as a team, being that we are quick, fast, and between us can cover combat ranges from long to melee. Let the Arbites go in and soak up the damage.

Only thing is, I'm still a guardsman, I have yet to actually join the acolytes just yet. But one of the characters is adamant about dragging me before the Inquisitor for speaking out against the Emperor in a bad moment.

Eventually I'll find a way to draw this stuff myself... maybe stick figures?

EDIT: To resize... then again to crop the image... Preview button didn't seem to work.

Hmm, you could try painting a model which resembles Lyra, then?
When you're at it, why not paint the whole team - would make an awesome Necromunda gang.

As for painting a picture if the lines are laid out - are you referring to digital coloring? If so, we might be able to team up, with me drawing the lines and you doing the colors.

Ya know, it may be a different medium but the concepts and fundamentals are probably similar...

While that news is down right cool, you got my hopes all up that another bit of art had gotten posted!

I love seeing others takes on the universe and those that dwell within it and next to the Humorous Moments thread, this one has to be my favorite... even though i forgot it existed for a few weeks there.

So, you guys need to get back to tossing art up here again (or painted figure, or what ever else). I miss the eye candy... and it's just great to be able to put a face to a character emntioned elsewhere

Just to be fare, I'll toss a painting I did for my group up here as well. It might be the only DH piece I ever have time to do but I guess one is better then none.

Neat! It's certainly nice to see the devs are watching us here, even if they don't have the time to participate as much as they (or we) might like. Then again, some of the images in this thread are so awesome, everybody would be impressed.

@Graver: very cool picture. I especially like the details you've put into the characters' clothing and equipment. The portable cogitator(?) is quite odd, but maybe just because of this it fits into the setting even better.
Oh, and nice work on the background as well!

Frikin awsome pic.

And i hope FFG give some of the resident artists some paying commissions, they are certainly worth it!

Impressive !
I particulary love the Necromunda Delaque style witchfinder's attitude...

Thanks guys! lad you liked my painting!

@Laynata, the cogitator is a bit of an odd one, but it's kind of my take on a portable one. It was made from the head of the groups former adept's mentor so that he could continue dispensing knowledge indefinitely. Once their adept got her head ventilated, the resident psyker scooped the cogitator up seeing it as too important to leave behind and it's been chained to her ever since.

When it comes to 40k, I'm fairly certain that you can work anything into it... as long as it's in the form of a skull.

"you want an automatic soda dispensing machine? I don't know if that fits in with the..."
"but it's built into my character's dead brother's skull and is carried about by a dead winged baby that continuously intones the Rite of Liquid Purification!"
"Oh, in that case, sure you can have it!"

Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for a night, set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
