The closest modern equivalent to the Homeric hero is the ace fighter pilot.
— W. H. Auden
The more mechanical becomes the weapons with which we fight, the less mechanical must be the spirit which controls them.
— Field Marshal Archibald P. Wavell.
As the biggest, most widespread war in history, World War II saw the involvement of over 100 million military personnel. It is the war where aerial combat rose to the forefront. The highlight of which was the Battle of Britain, where an outmanned and outgunned Royal Air Force outfought the overwhelming forces of the German Luftwaffe. This bravery and heroic effort took place during the first major campaign to be fought entirely in the air. This and scores of other dramatic air battles can now be fought between you and your friends, using the award-winning Wings of War rules system and the long-awaited pre-painted miniatures for Wings of War: The Dawn of World War II. Look for this exciting new addition to the bestselling Wings of War game line from Nexus Games and and Fantasy Flight Games coming this Summer to your friendly local game store.
Wings of War miniatures are beautifully painted and accurately sculpted at 1/200th scale. Each miniature pack also comes with its own maneuver deck which allows more players to participate in the action. Wings of War miniatures take the innovative game mechanics of the award-winning Wings of War card game into a new dimension of realistic aerial combat simulation.
Each plane in the Wings of War World War II miniatures set, corresponds to a plane and maneuver deck found in either the Wings of War: The Dawn of World War II core set, or the Wings of War: Eagles of the Reich and Wings of War: Flying Legend blister packs.
Watch this space over the coming weeks weeks as we preview the upcoming planes from the first wave of miniatures, including the Supermarine Spitfire and the Messerschmitt BF109, both shown in this article!
Gather your air force and prepare for war as this Summer the skies will burn and who wins depends on you!
Wings of War is an innovative card game that realistically simulates aerial combat in both World War I and World War II. Wings of War miniatures are three-dimensional accessories for Wings of War that couple the same revolutionary game play with beautifully-sculpted and historically-accurate models.
After the weak attempts of other companies to create an air combat game with miniatures set in WWII, I can say that I'm extremely excited for this product! Thanks for the info!
Would have been nice if these minis were also 1:144 like the Biplanes. I know the two games are not designed to be played together but if the Minis were the same scale they could at least be displayed together properly.

I've never been a big fan of the bi-planes. I've been hoping for WWII series planes for a while.
This just got added to the wish list.
>Royal British air force<
What the heck? It's the Royal Air Force - I find the other expression rather offensive.
Considering the high quality of the WWI Wings of War miniatures, I'm sure that these will be just stunning. A must have for any wargamer interested in this period of history. I too have been long awaiting this release.
Great News! I have been waiting for this for a long time now!! I can't wait!
