With these hands
I created unimaginable wonders...
Gods and demons without souls,
wrought of metal, wood, and crystal.
The power to challenge heaven,
grasped in your fingers...
Fantasy Flight Games is excited to announce Prometheum Exxet: The Supernatural Artifacts, an upcoming supplement for Anima: Beyond Fantasy! The land of Gaïa is ancient, and artifacts from eras long past can still be found in the forgotten corners of the world. Prometheum Exxet is a thorough compendium of some of the most powerful objects that have managed to survive the countless conflicts of Gaïa and the ravages of time.
Centuries ago, supernatural artifacts were an established feature of day-to-day life for the inhabitants of Gaïa. Whole civilizations once built their societies around the use of such potent magical objects. Unfortunately, after the War of God, most of these items were destroyed or drained of their power. Magical artifacts are still created and traded throughout the land, but creations on par with the objects from Gaïa’s past are few and far between. Most of today’s most talented and knowledgable artificers know only a tiny fraction of the knowledge that has been lost to time. The Order of Magus and the Black Sun still create and trade in mystical objects, and some individuals still possess the skills to create wondrous devices. Still, the greatest artifacts—those whose mere existence shakes Gaïa to its very core—are all relics of a lost age.
One organization, the Tol Rauko, is dedicated to the pursuit and collection of these exceedingly rare and dangerous artifacts, and they are implacable in their wide-ranging search of the continent. Most artifacts gathered by these Templars are at least seven centuries old, dating back to the Empire of Yehudah. Even with their incredible age and scarcity taken into consideration, there are still a number of these ancient and powerful objects hidden across Gaïa, waiting for daring adventurers to uncover them.
Powerful Pieces of History
These arcane relics from bygone days still possess extraordinary power. Even the least of these objects can bring a great advantages to those who wield them. Mystical potions can seal wounds or cure deadly poisons, and the Ashes of Darkness can create inky obfuscations for an enterprising thief. While rare in a general sense, items such as these are relatively common where magical tokens are concerned. These are only a few of the items available to most adventurers willing to visit the tents of Black Sun merchants.
And, of course, there are many far more potent items scattered throughout the unexplored ruins that dot the land. Prometheum Exxet gives players the chance to experiment with magic items, from those of minor magical significance to those that contain godlike power, and everything in-between. Each of these items is not a mere tool, but has its own tale to tell of its creation and history. Further, it allows players to create their own mystic artifacts with which to tell their own stories.
A Word From the Producer
Developer Max Brookes has been carefully working on importing this fantastic compendium of supernatural sundries, and had the following to say about his time spent with Prometheum Exxet:
Prometheum Exxet: The Supernatural Artifacts is a book full of amazing creations, mystic weapons stained with the blood of heroes, and incredible machines that surpass reason. More than that, though, it's a book full of stories about these artifacts, and their role in the history of Gaïa. This volume is brimming not only with tales, myths, and legends about the wondrous relics within, but also with opportunities to tell new stories using these artifacts.
Some of these objects come from the hands of the legendary artificer Gaudemus, called the Creator of Wonders, or his mischievous apprentice Nekomusume, whose playful creations warp reality in the most unpredictable ways. Others were forged in the triumphs and tragedies of epic figures such as the Argent Knight, the Holy Kings, and even Holst, King of Heroes. Still more have transcended steel and stone entirely, becoming entities unto themselves that appear to the descendants of the Lim Sidhe worthy of their incredible power. With these secrets uncovered, the most interesting question remains: how will you wield them?
Beyond these items tied to Gaïa's figures of myth and current inhabitants, Prometheum Exxet also has an exhaustive set of tools for creating new artifacts. With these, the Game Master and the players can forge legendary weapons of their own, to wield as they carve their place into the history of Gaïa. I'm very excited to hear about the arcane creations people that people craft and the amazing stories that they use them to tell!
Thanks Max! Watch in the coming weeks as we prepare for the release of Prometheum Exxet and preview some of the powerful artifacts you’ll find within its pages.
