“...His death lit a fire that soon swept across Dorne, undoing all the Young Dragon's victories in a fortnight. The kneeling men stood up, and we were free again."
–A Storm of Swords, George R. R. Martin
Princes of the Sun is now on sale at your local retailer and on our webstore! This exciting reprint for A Game of Thrones: The Card Game is marked with “Revised Edition” on the front of the box, and now includes three copies of each of the 60 unique cards included in the original printing.
The serpent in the sand
With a full play set for House Martell, players can use Princes of the Sun to immediately begin competitive House Martell deck-building. House Martell is the ruling house of the sun-scorched kingdom of Dorne and has been for the past thousand years. Their words “Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken” represent the house’s defiant nature and refusal to concede control of their empire.
Included within the set are House Martell only cards that exhibit the House’s lust for vengeance, especially against offenses they consider unforgivable. Red Vengeance also demonstrates House Martell’s well-known counterintuitive strategy of “winning through losing.” After losing a challenge, Red Vengeance allows the Martell defender to manipulate the claim effect. By kneeling influence, you can force an opponent, including your attacker, to satisfy the claim as if he had lost the challenge as the defender...in essence forcing him to attack himself.
A card such as Dorne, House Martell’s homeland, allows you to reduce the gold cost for you to marshall cards with a certain Trait by 1. This Location is particularly useful if you have built a deck that includes many cards with the same Trait; every card’s cost is reduced as opposed to Location cards that only allow you to reduce the next card you marshall or a specific one.
Princes of the Sun features infamous Martell characters such as Doran Martell, Arianne Martell, Ser Arys Oakheart, Darkstar, and the Red Viper, as well as cards for the other Houses. Also included are the rules for a “Civil War” game variant that lets players compete for the limited resources of a single deck.
Prepare to excel in treachery when you pick up a copy of Princes of the Sun at your local retailer today!
Based on George R.R. Martin's bestselling fantasy epic A Song of Ice and Fire, A Game of Thrones: The Card Game, playable by 2-4 players, brings the beloved heroes, villains, locations, and events of the world of Westeros to life through innovative game mechanics and the highly strategic game play. The Living Card Game format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Chapter Pack expansions to the core game.
A lannister box is practically the last thing we need at this point... that House is already too powerful at it is...The Lannister House expansion could just as easily be called "The Core Set" lol
Dont worry, Mekros. Lanni box is forthcoming. It is known.
Can't stand this house! Now more people will be playing more than ever. Where is the Lannister Box?
Will it be released in Italy?
This is cool, but I was hoping they'd announce the Lannister box this week. :(
Same here. A lot of new players are showing a deal of interest in the mysterious house Martell. I hope FFG starts pumping out these reprints faster to keep up with the demand! It's quite exciting watching the community grow.
Great news for all! I know a couple players who have been waiting to buy the Martell box until the reprint comes out.
