“Cooke was standing close enough now that Lucy could smell his stale breath. His eyes were still animated. ‘I’ve found an ancient text that contains an incantation - a spell - for invoking the god’s name to do just that. To kill. To snuff out lives.’”
-From The Rituals of the Order, a serial tale by Jeff Tidball
Aspirations of Ascension further draws you into Call of Cthulhu with exciting new strategies to be tested. For more information about the design philosophy of this expansion cycle, read Rituals of Power, the designer’s introduction to the series.
This Asylum Pack’s theme is swift deployment and several cards have acceleration. Johnny V’s Dame is one such card, and aids this Asylum pack in developing the synergy for the Criminal subtype, which opens up new options for The Syndicate characters to pursue.
Other factions are helped by cards such as Obscure Linguist, who has the Investigator subtype, excel within the game when played with Anthropology Advisor (Core Set, F25) and can be speedily deployed if Anthropology Advisor is already in play. As a non-unique card Obscure Linguist offers players a major icon advantage when three copies are in play, and with Willpower Obscure Linguist cannot be driven insane.

Based on the fiction of H.P. Lovecraft and his literary circle, Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game takes two players deep into the Cthulhu Mythos where investigators clash with the Ancient Ones and Elder Gods for the fate of the world.
