Hello and Welcome Back, Loyal A Game of Thrones Fans!

Queen of Dragons promises to be an amazing release for A Game of Thrones, and we are excited to present a few spoilers from this expansion below... but before we get to those, some news:

• The "Chosen Few" deckbuilding contest is still going strong and we are receiving new decklists all the time. Hurry, though - the deadline to submit your decklists is April 1st! Be among the Chosen Few at our Staff Proxy tournament on April 17th at the FFG Event Center.
• Speaking of April 17th at the FFG Event Center, we will also be running our Hand of the King Tournament that day and we hoping for a big turnout. Be on the lookout on this website, too, for a list of participating venues for Hand of the King tournaments all over the world.
• Don't forget to tune in on April 17th for the debut of A Game of Thrones on HBO!
• PAX East was a great time with A Game of Thrones selling out in record time. The new HBO series is creating a lot of buzz around A Song of Ice and Fire and that hopefully means a lot of new blood being injected into our beloved game. If you see some new players at your next game night, welcome them in with open arms!
• Finally, Regionals season is almost upon us and we will be announcing the venues very soon. One event you can set your calendars for now is LCG Days at the FFG Event Center May 13th-15th, featuring Regional tournaments for all three LCGs. Be there!

Blood of the Dragon

Now to move on to what you're really looking for: news from upcoming expansions. This week we return to House Targaryen's Queen of Dragons, due out late this Spring. As those of you who have been with the game for a while know, one of House Targaryen's key strengths is in its use of attachments. There are attachments like Dragon Sight (A Song of Summer, F5) or the recent spate of Dothraki Weapon attachments, or attachment-related cards like Lady Daenerys's Chambers, Xaro's Home, or The Battle of Astapor (Epic Battles, F69) all with the intent of House Targaryen's attachment superiority.

One place in which House Targaryen excels over other Houses is in its ability to discard attachments from play or move them around - see Dany's Handmaiden or Dragon Thief (Ancient Enemies, F37). A shining example of this skill set can be found in Queen of Dragons in Crown of Meereen.

Crown of Meereen does double duty in this set: apart from making it Summer and powering cards like Dragon Sight and The Long Summer (A Song of Summer, F44), it also gives you the ability to take control of attachments and put them on your own cards. Win a challenge with the character that Crown of Meereen is attached to and, assuming you have an eligible card handy, cards like Northern Steel (The Battle of Blackwater Bay, F102) and Poisoned Knife (A Song of Silence, F76) become assets instead of irritants.

Dark Wings, Dark Words

We couldn't leave you without some more insight into the Dragon theme of Queen of Dragons, so as an added bonus this week, we present one of the three new Hatchlings you will find in this box. Like the Hatchlings that have come before, these little guys are pretty similar, but each of them are different enough to use more than one to fill out the low-cost character slots in your deck. In the case of the new Hatchlings, you have even more incentive to put them into your Dragon-themed deck. Early in the game, you can play them as you would any other low-cost character, but later in the game when you've got the big Dragons in play the Hatchlings will come in especially useful as dupes. Given how much of Queen of Dragons supports Dragons - cards like True Queen's Harbinger, Qarth, Yunkai, and more - the Dragons are the characters that you will want to keep alive the longest to accomplish the most in-game, that is, clearing your opponent's board and grabbing power.
