Fight For The Frozen Shores 24
Announcing Operation Cyclone, a campaign expansion for Dust Tactics
Dust Tactics | Published 20 December 2010

A rich mine of VK has been discovered in the subzero wastes of Antarctica, and its direct access to the sea makes it a dangerous new focal point of the war. As the Axis forces fortify their defenses on the icy shores, the Allies plan a swift and daring amphibious assault in the hopes of claiming the enemy position. Who will gain control of this bountiful energy source and the waterways necessary to transport it? And what will this mean for the outcome of the war? It will take monumental courage to defend your prize, or heavy casualties to take it! Prepare for fierce amphibious landings on the frozen tundra of Antarctica... this is Operation Cyclone.

Operation Cyclone is an exciting new campaign expansion for Dust Tactics, the tactical miniatures board game of explosive battlefield combat! Coming later this winter, Operation Cyclone brings the fight from Antarctica’s frozen waterways to its icy shores. With an exciting scenario guide including eight new battles, as well as the supplemental rules for artillery, amphibious assaults, and more, Operation Cyclone includes everything you need to expand your Dust Tactics experience! Also included in Operation Cyclone are six new terrain tiles, four ammo crates, four tank traps, nine terrain squares, and two amazing new heroes!

Two New Heroes Enter the Fray

Amphibious Landing terrain tiles allow attacking forces to pour onto the battlefield, while artillery rules bring a whole new dimension to the game. Leading their forces to glory or the grave, two new heroes also enter the fray.

For the allies, Master Sergeant Rosie Donovan is the brilliant engineer who designed the Allies’ first combat walker, and her mechanical know-how is a constant asset on the battlefield. Her Tank Head repair skill lets her fix damaged tanks... but don’t underestimate her destructive prowess. She has personally adapted her massive bazooka to take down enemy walkers with a single shot!

Meanwhile, the Axis officer Manfred Kreuzer is well respected amongst his peers, having been part of the expedition that first discovered alien technology in the remote caves of Antarctica. This hearty soldier boasts five health, meaning he’s able to protect his men longer than any other hero. What’s more, his Assault skill and unlimited Panzerfaust give him exceptional tactical flexibility.

Watch for updates on Operation Cyclone in the coming weeks, including an announcement for a premium painted version. Then, be ready when the assault launches later this winter!

Dust Tactics is a tactical miniatures game of brutal combat for 2-4 players. Based on the popular universe created by artist Paolo Parente, Dust Tactics presents an alternate 1940s reality in which alien technology fuels gigantic machines of war, and the world's superpowers clash over rare mineral deposits that could ultimately decide the outcome of WWII.

$40 for this is a ridiculous price point. Funny that since $30 would have been acceptable and I wouldn't have even batted an eye, but $40 is pretty unacceptable when directly compared to similar products (AT-43 Operation frostbite is a good comparison). It has the hallmarks of price gouging.

If this is the sort of content I can come to expect from the expansions and the prices to go with that content, then I think it best to just skip the game entirely.

Poor decision FFG. Bring back the original big box Op Cyclone expansion originally delailed . Two minis and some cardboard for what will probably be £25 RRP in UK doesn't switch me on to this game.

Yep looks like amphibious transport tiles.  I like the idea, put them up against the tiles you currently have and you have a amphibious landing.  Looking forward to this release.

$39.95 MSRP isn't too unreasonable seeing as most retailers will be selling this for between $25-$30... I will be buying this for sure.  Besides if this was 40k, it would be $100, lol ;)

$39.95? That is way over priced for two figures, a little cardboard, and some plastic pieces we already have. Who is setting these price points? Aliens?

$39.95 is way too over-priced.

I'm shocked that this is at $39.95....

I think FFG is going to do this differently if you look it says check back in the upcoming weeks for more updates, so I'm assuming all those models are coming out just in different boxes. Like the smaller squad boxes. So I predict there were be more one the models and stuff but they are going to be seperately so we can customise our armies rather than buying all the models. (I want all the models though)

In the back of the main rulebook, there are pics of new walkers and different minis. It also said "see you in artillary strike."  This implys thta those miins would be in the expansion. Very missleading IMO.
