As the sun broke over the jagged horizon, the great stone doors began to rumble. Two robed figures watched in silent anticipation from behind the ruins of the walls that once surrounded Dragonfire Dungeon. The magical aura that surrounded the doors intensified when the sun’s early light activated its enchantment. Rocks fell as the doors began to open, revealing utter blackness beyond its threshold. One of the figures stepped toward the awaiting dungeon. “I’m coming with you, Brother Gherinn.” He was restrained by the other, also wearing the vestaments of Kellos.

“No, Jacob,” Brother Gherinn said, his scarred face hidden behind a golden mask. “I must do this on my own. Kellos will not free me from my dark past unless I prove myself.” He stepped forward toward the doors. “My salvation lies below...”

Jacob watched as his mentor disappeared through the massive doors. As the morning wind blew his hood back, he thought he heard the sound of distant laughter.

In DungeonQuest, players must guide their heroes through the twisting halls of Dragonfire Dungeon in pursuit of unimaginable riches hoarded by the Dragonlord Kalladra. Whoever can amass the most wealth and make it out of the dungeon before the closing of the doors seals their doom will emerge victorious. However, merely surviving the harrowing dungeon is a feat all its own...

Only the bravest of heroes dare to enter Dragonfire Dungeon, and of those heroes only a few have returned. Yet those who have returned are remembered forever, for they have faced the dragon’s challenge and emerged victorious; and mere survival is counted a victory when facing the dangers of Dragonfire Dungeon.

DungeonQuest is a classic board game of dungeon exploration. 1-4 players take on the roles of heroes on a quest to gather the most loot from Dragonfire Dungeon before the doors close and seal their fates. Dare you face the dragon’s challenge?

 I own the original that I picked up in the mid 80s. My friends and I always enjoyed playing it as you could get in a lot of games in an evening since the survival rate was so low and it was fast paced. Looking forward to the new version.

Never heard of the game until this reprint.  Gotta love a game with only about a 15% chance of winning.  Cant wait to get my hands on it.

another thing: sneak attack is no mentioned in the rules...maybe in the next expansion?

that's sooooo good! great idea to post now the rulebook. I played the old GW Dungeonquest a lot, with both expansions, and  I loved it. I'm glad to see that catacombs are still inside the base game, and combat seems interesting and deep, even if more difficult for people who don't play card or board games...I'm sorry there aren't amulets and that dungeon deck is only 50 cards (in the original game the deck was 84 cards, plus 12 cards from catacombs)...but worst of all, NO SNOTLINGS!!!! WHY???they were soooo funny, I hope we'll see them in the first expansion. anyway, really a great job over there!!

Sorry, just realized that both players have the same combat cards, except one power card...

Rules question: Combat rules say winner places his own, played cards in the opponent's damage stack, but the combat example shows skeleton cards in the skeleton damage stack and Lindel cards in the Lindel damage stack.

At least that is how it looks...

From the combat stack you can get your own cards to your damage stack, but at least one card should come from the opponent, right?

Is the picture wrong?

This is insane, never has a rulebook made me want something this much!  If the game plays even half as good as it looks and the rules read we are in for a treat.  Oh and owning Runebound, Descent, and Runewars for the cross-over character sheets doesn't hurt either.

Looks so good! Cannot wait to play and then use the characters in the other Terrinoth games! Lindel is awesome!
