|Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game | Published 20 January 2010|
Welcome back to another card of the week spotlight for Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game, a game of kingdoms, questing, and combat! It’s no secret that The Corruption Cycle offers fans of the vile Skaven plenty to get excited about. In the past several spotlights, we’ve seen the swarming Clan Rats, the versatile Greyseer Thanquol, and even the tactic card Chittering Horde join their foul ranks.
The forces of Order, for their part, have offered up several cards capable of facing the Skaven threat head on; Gustav the Bear and Marius the Righteous prey on the Skaven, since their card mechanics allow them to target corrupted units (and since so many Skaven units wind up corrupting themselves). Take a look at the Gutter Runners from the upcoming Tooth and Claw Battle Pack, for example. A relatively inexpensive unit, they bring the Scout ability to the ranks of the Skaven... but in exchange, they enter the game corrupted.
It’s clear that a player incorporating Skaven into his deck must be constantly aware of corruption; it would be easy to build up too many corrupted units (especially if you have a Warpstone Excavation in play), then find yourself caught unable to restore them in time to be any use. But how can you circumvent this problem?
Also making their debut in the upcoming Tooth and Claw Battle Pack are the enormous Rat Ogres. These hulking brutes fearlessly stare down the most formidable foe, and their very presence on the battlefield compels their smaller cousins to fight with even more ferocity. The smart player would do well to keep them protected, because as long as they stay in play, your other Skaven units won’t stay corrupted long.
Tooth and Claw will hit shelves soon, and when it does, the Skaven will grow even more powerful. Join us next week when we take our first look inside Assault on Ulthuan, the upcoming deluxe expansion for Warhammer: Invasion!
Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game is a card game by Eric M. Lang in which 2 players develop their kingdoms and lay waste to their foes. Each side is comprised of either the forces of Order or the forces of Destruction as they seek to extend their empire to include the entire Old World. The Living Card Game™ format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Battle Pack expansions to the core game.
i really hope there's 3 of these Rat Ogres in the BP :D
These rodents are sleeping or what ? There is till no news when we get the BP. :(
Yea Chaos-Skaven ftw!!
Wow, not exactly a Skaven fan but I can imagine people really using these cards!
woohooo RAT OGRES!!!!!
At least Marius the Righteous will beat 'm all!
Another "Acion: At the beginning of your turn..." I guess Rat Ogres will work in the same way Abandoned Mine does.
Rather pedestrian cards but at least they're Skaven and will boost the Greyseer. :D
Great cards ! Both go directly into my Chaos-Skaven deck.
Rodents of unusual size? I don't think they exist.
