Another Earth. A different 1947. The Second World War has raged for nearly a decade and its grip has spread to every continent on the planet. Entire nations have been stamped out, whole peoples subjugated, and great cities beaten flat by the titanic conflicts unleashed across the globe. Three monolithic power blocs have emerged from the threats, machinations, diplomacy, and outright conquests perpetrated by the major nations’ strife. For some, that victory means conquest, glory, and world domination; for others, freedom – but few now talk of simple peace. This is the world of Dust.

Dust Warfare is a tabletop wargame designed by Andy Chambers and Mack Martin in which players take command of elite soldiers, awesome combat walkers, and inspiring heroes on the battlefronts of World War II. In this accessible and thrilling game, opposing generals craft strategies and execute tactics as they fight for victory.

In Dust Warfare, you’ll build and customize an army and lead them in engaging and interactive battles. Hand-select your forces for each engagement, and deploy them in intense missions that test your skill as a field commander. With its flexible rules, you can interrupt your opponent’s turn, reacting to his movements or attacks. Feign assaults, outsmart the enemy, and lure him into exposing his plans.

Flexible platoon lists and dozens of scenarios

Dust Warfare is filled with amazing weapons, remarkable abilities, and powerful heroes. As a commander, you have access to a massive arsenal of options. In the Dust Warfare: Core Rulebook, you’ll find the Allies and Axis platoon lists that let you muster a fighting force, and then customize it by purchasing platoon upgrades. Additionally, this book contains rules for all of the special abilities and weapons your army possesses.

With five pre-made scenarios, you can start the conflict quickly, or use the Battle Builder system that lets you and your opponent create a distinctive scenario each time you play. Before the game starts, each player has the opportunity to spend Scenario Points that directly influence key aspects of the game like objectives, deployment, and battlefield conditions. This exceptional system lets you decide how your armies will clash, while also providing a large variety of possible scenarios. We’ll show you more details regarding the versatile Battle Builder system in the next few weeks leading up to the release of Dust Warfare.

In some scenarios, you’ll have access to fortifications to help you achieve victory. Scatter minefields around the map and slow your enemy’s advance to a crawl. String electrified barbed wire around your position and zap your opponent. Dig an impressive trench system and give your units extra protection. Fortify your most valuable assets, and defend them until the last man standing!

Stunning models supported by future expansions

If you are already familiar with Dust Tactics, you’ll recognize the fantastic models that populate Dust Warfare. These two game systems use, and will continue to use, the same set of models. So, if you already have a Dust Tactics army, all you need to play Dust Warfare is the Core Rulebook.

In the future, new units will be added to Dust Warfare in a series of campaign books. The first such book is Campaign Book “Zverograd.” This supplement features the SSU platoon list, as well as additional units for both the Axis and Allies. It also contains the first Dust Warfare campaign that let’s you take part in the fight over the mysterious city of Zverograd.

Innovative rules for combat keep you involved in the game

Designed to be an engaging and interactive gaming experience, Dust Warfare gives you unique command options and keeps you involved during the opponent’s turn. Innovative game mechanics like issuing orders during the Command phase, reactions, and suppression, allow troops, walkers, and heroes to react to changing battlefield conditions.

The battle escalates each turn, which takes place over four phases: the Initiative phase, the Command phase, the Unit phase, and the End phase. During the Initiative phase, players determine who starts the turn, but there are important implications that go beyond just what army goes first, because this phase also determines how many Orders each general has in the Command phase.

In the Command phase, you can influence the battle before your adversary can respond. However, you’ll want to weigh your options carefully, because you have a limited amount of Orders in this phase. Command your units to unleash fire on nearby enemies, or move into a vital piece of scenery, gaining a cover bonus from incoming fire.

The reaction system makes combat more dynamic and adds tactical depth to Dust Warfare. Many situations allow you to interrupt your opponent’s turn and perform an action with one of your squads. Cunning generals can even trick their opponents into revealing their plans or lure them into ambushes by getting them to react to false threats. We’ll cover this exciting phase in more detail in upcoming preview articles.
