Draw after battle variant

How does the draw after battle variant work compared to the standard game?

I see this as a not very good variant personally. I have found that a lot of the strategy comes from having to decide how much tom commit and when to any given battle. Being able to draw after every battle would remove that and as such diminish the game as a whole
