at some point I think PVP would be a good idea to get as an extra.
I see this one as a kind of WoW TCG against the raid deck. You play together to win and at the side I think there should be a possibility to play pvp.
however that is really hard to incorporate so first get that rebel scum out en get the engine as good as possible. Then FFG can look further to what fans want.
Oh I play rebels anytime
Rebels for me. The only way I would want to play Empire in a co-op is if it were set in the Imperial Remnant against the New Republic, or Roan Fel's empire against the Sith. The EU is much harder to sell to a wide enough audience until the game line is well established though so these won't be possible for years.
In a PvP game, I would play various dark side groups, but for the most part relate more to the Rebels - the underdogs.

Bounty Hunters! I need that scum!
But seriously, I usually play Dark Side and my twin, Parakitor, plays the light side (I guess I'm the evil twin!). That's the way it went down with the old Decipher game. So I'll admit that I was a little bummed when I found out that there was no Empire play in this one. When I saw the box, it brought back those feelings I had when I first opened the Decipher SWCCG starter set as a child. But that feeling of disappoint with the lack of a Dark Side quickly vanished when I realized that this was a great opportunity to explore the strategies of a faction that I have largely ignored my entire life.
So to finally answer the question, I'd get the Rebel version for a change of pace and for the reasons mentioned previously (i.e. a co-op Imperial game doesn't really work with the Star Wars mythos).
In a PVP game im always open to playing any faction, if by choice then i usualy choose Darkside, if it was a multi faction pvp setting lets say
New Republic
Yuzhaan Vong
Empire
Rebelion
Republic
Confederacy
Old Republic
Sith
Hutt Cartel
Bounty Hunters guild
Black Sun
Karddes Smugglers Alliance
And any others i cant recall at the moment lol
man now that i put all those potential factions in its a very tough choice. hmmm
I think id alternate between Empire decks, Bounty Hunter decks and Sith decks. I have always had multiple decks and always enjoyed deck building and customization just as much if not sometimes more so then playing the game.
While i love the Coop format, (still love the pvp more, but coop is a nice fresh alternative) I think the coop format suffers from lack of competitive deck building. I mean with PVP u have to constantly be making new decks and changing strategies based on the decks that your opponents are playing. It puts much more emphasis on the whole customizable card game deck building. With coop well, with LOTR i just throw in some of the new power cards and cut some of the stuff i never use. There isnt too much thought, Usually im just adjusting 3-5 cards per adventure pack if even that depending on what the adventure pack focuses on. Theres no real drive to try and make the ultimate deck to decimate my opponents, theres no challenge to building a deck, not sure if that the right word but im sure u know what i mean lol
But yeah back on topic id prolly end up playing my empire deck most as gaming companies always tend to make the empire the strongest military wise.

if i had a choice I would play empire for sure, but I am happy for a co-op / solitair game like LOTR playing rebels.

Sick of FFG terrible forum software? Why not try chatting at CardGameDB a site dedicated to Living Card Games and at the moment criminally under populated. Lets all move to that forum!!
Well I guess co op will not have the right feel with the empire. But like in the WoW card game there are raid packs and the co-op group plays one super bad guy. A thing like that could be in here as well. So you can still play the empire/darkside.
Say when do we get some extra news on this game I need a fix!

I heartily agree with you. I've never sat in anticipation for a table-top game before, but it's hard to stay interested when you've already memorized the product descriptions and overviews. I just hope by the Force that they'll meet their "Early 2012" release plan. I wonder though, how does "Early 2012" differ from "First Quarter 2012"? I assume that first quarter means Jan-Feb-Mar. So does "early" mean it will be in the first part of that quarter, or does it just mean the first half of 2012?

first half of 2012 mosty likely The deadline for LotR just ket shifting as wel.
If I had a choice I would play the Empire, but only because the bad guys always have the better looking costumes and weapons.
However, I could not be happier with the direction FFG is taking with the Star Wars LCG. I love to opportunity to play Co-Op. My opinion has been reinforced by the amazing job they have done with the Lord of the Rings LCG. The incredible amount of effort they put into making you feel like you are actually travelling through Middle Earth is just great. And I can't wait to see how they can pull me into the Star Wars universe.
