Somehow - the refresh phase is unclear - please help

Maybe it's just me - but the rules around the refresh phase are unclear. It says: "Each manager refreshes all exhausted cards in his
play area by rotating them to their upright position". What I don't understand is - then what. Once I untap them - do I take them back into my hand? If so - why bother unrotating them if I'm just going to pick it up? Please tell me what I'm missing. I love the game - but this most basic of rules is unclear to me. Thanks!

Refresching Cards means only the Staff und Team Upgrade Cards (Support Cards) in YOUR playarea.
After Refreshing the Support Cards they are ready for using them in the next Week of the Season.
