We also have a group that meets weekly here in Bloomington, if you're ever up for it.

At the game store? Gryfalia's? I think I went once or twice, but school got in the way for a bit. I would like to start coming again. Was also thinking of getting something going here in Peoria.

Gryfalias isn't great because of the unwashed CCG masses*, so we meet at Dairy Queen on Veterans Parkway. Big tables, food, staff likes us.

*thing I like best about AGOT meta: better overall hygiene ;)

Yes, it seems that AGOT players are older, less "typical gamer". And DQ? Really? We aren't 16 man lol.

I would come down to Milwaukee for a good event. Monthly/Bi Monthly if it became a regular thing.
Winter has come
I'm a newer player but I'll also drive down from Milwaukee if it is a monthly/bi-monthly thing.

As is a side benefit to DQ, many tables are fixed to the floor.
We discussed meeting at a bar, but really do you want to play a 3 melee against a Martell icon removal deck after a couple beers?
Alcohol + martell NPE in melee = table flipping.

No, I really refuse to play melee any more. Too much time. If they fix it in the future, maybe.
A bar? Hmmm…a shot for every power you claim? :)

I recently talked to Games-Plus about doing a regular LCG Game Day. As far as regular days go, Sunday seems to be the best day, at least with my group. Saturdays could work for specific events/days, but often there are other events that would bump any regular group. Certainly it would be harder to have enough room for more than 6 people on most Saturdays.
They seemed open to the idea of doing the organized play kits, but I have not heard back a definitive ya or nay.
If you're interested in AGoT and other LCG/Boardgames I'd recommend joining:

We have been doing monthly gaming at GP and other locations.

I'm just trying to get into the game. From what I've read so far, Games Plus seems to have gotten a lot better to the non-paint-your-minis-gamer. I've avoided that place like the plague because of the rude behavior management has had in the past to the card gamers & the pre-painted minis gamers. I wonder what changed their attitude?
Well I've never had a problem there. We did host a Game of Thrones Regional at Games Plus last year. We'll see if they actually get the organized play kits or not.
I think in general they're a very miniatures focused store, so I could see them trumping card games for miniatures. Also CCGs, especially Magic, tend to draw a less than mature crowd, so that never helps.
My guess as to why they may be more receptive is that the LCG monthly packs seem to be selling well. I know that the GoT and Netrunner packs usually sell out. That's part of the reason I want to start doing regular events is to try and get some more players into the game group.

Can we have a date confirmation yet? Are we looking at the 16th?

I have a table for this Sunday, Jan 20th at Games Plus in Mount Prospect, IL. It will probably mostly Game of Thrones and Star Wars. If theres interest this will become a weekly or bi monthly day.

I am going to plan on stopping by Sunday as long as the weekend runs as planned. Do you have a time set?
