Hello. During the game Talisman we have faced that the Runesword is a over-powered. But we are not sure about that. The problem is in the difference between restore 1 life and gain 1 life. Let me explain on the example what do I mean.
We have a sorceress with RuneSword, her health is 4 HP. During the game she was injured and has now 3 HP from 4 of max. When she defeats the enemy what should happen with her HP:
- 3 HP of max 5? (here she gains 1 life to a max value)
- 4 HP of max 4? (here she restores 1 life and do not increases her max value)
- 4 HP of max 5? (here she gains 1 life, but she still injured, so the max HP level also increased)
So we can't decide what to do. Please advice.
Thanks.

4HP of max 4, she gains a life, but there is no such thing as "max life" (apart from component limitation), only Life value. If she were already at 4 Lives, killing an Enemy with the Runesword would gain her a Life, so she would have 5 Lives (but Life Value of 4 still). When you gain something, you can go beyond your starting value, otherwise it would be pretty hard to ever get Str or Craft to 9 (since you have to gain them and no character has a value of 7+).
A dirty mind is its own reward.
